Studio Relocation & Survival
Donation protected
Innerspiral Studio was the brainchild and creation born of the magic between two people... Over the last four years we have been on a journey together, to be self sufficient by creating beautiful, wearable art from scratch, using the natural fibers plentifully available in the world. We have self taught, everything from dying our colours, to designing our felted hats, washing fleece and making our buttons from tree branches. It's an ongoing process of experimentation, challenge and opportunity. At the core, our ethos has always been to be sustainable, natural, and organic where possible. I am proud of our studio, the work we have created, and how far we have come. Now, we are sadly parting ways, and I am taking on the running of the studio alone. This means I am forced to re-locate and re-furnish my studio.
My future plans include opening up my new studio as an exhibition space, to tutor and run workshops, as well as a joint creative space for other artists to use and explore their own potential working with natural fibres. I really believe this could be a revolutionary new venture, a multitude of fiber artists in the UK can only be a good thing! I want to share all the skills I have learned and developed over the years so they can be taken to new places and amazing new creations can be born!
My approach has been noted as 'delusional' by some and 'brave' by others. I simply just do not know how to live without my art - I have said before, and I say it now, my life is my art and my art is my life. The support of my family, friends & followers has got us to where we are today - but now I am to re-locate I find I do not outright 'own' some of the equipment in our studio - and have been told in no uncertain terms by a fellow fiber artist that I very much need a better wheel anyways! I therefore ask for your support now to get the funds together to purchase the following essential equipment, to continue running my studio:
*Pro Spinning Wheel & Accessories (£900) - Now bought! I purchased a Spinolution Echo wheel with all the toys from Designs by Amber :) THANK YOU to everyone for your donations. Not only will this mean I am equipped, it means my equipment has improved signifcantly, this could be the change I needed :)
*Jumbo Drumcarder (approx £350)
*Computer & printer
*DSLR Camera & Lens
Please visit my website to find out more about my studio and the work we have created so far. It's not been updated yet to reflect the current changes and won't be until after I have re-located. www.innerspirals.com
The rainbow poncho I am wearing in the photo above is the first creation from my studio to be created by myself in a collaborative venture with another artist. To find out more about the piece, and why it is so special, please visit the Etsy listing here. I believe it is the first of many wonderful new pieces to come!
With huge thanks to each and every single person reading this, from the bottom of my heart, with faith that if this is meant to be, it will happen...
