Heather Will Win

Heather is a loving sister, daughter, and friend.  For those of you that know Heather, you know what a happy, outgoing, funny, gracious, and compassionate person she is.  She is always smiling and laughing and is known for leaving a permanent impression with whomever she encounters. For those who don't know her, you are her friend too because she is kind and acccepting to everyone around her.  It is very typical of her to meet a perfect stranger and spend time chatting with them as if she has known them for years.  Her positive attitude is contagious and she genuinely enjoys making others happy.  Heather is always there for everyone else and never hesitates to help someone else out.  So now we ask that you please help Heather.

Devastating news struck our family when my sister Heather was diagnosed with stage 2, HER2+ breast cancer in August at the young age of 29.  She is reaching the end of chemotherapy with her last infusion being on Christmas Eve.  Now we prepare for the next stage, surgery and possibly radiation.

Heather lives with my husband and myself (her sister) and we have been doing our best to support her financially. She hasn't been able to work much as the side effects from chemotherapy have left her completely wiped out most days.  We have a very small family so we are relying on friends and perfect strangers to please help.  We've created this campaign to help ease some of the financial burden placed upon the family and Heather at this time.  Heather already has so many worries; bills and money should not be one of them.  Please help ease this load.

We do know that surgery will be sometime in January followed by either radiation or the phases of reconstruction.  We do not yet know for certain how extensive the surgery will be and what exactly the next steps will be.  But what we do know is that she will not be able to work at all during this process.  It could be anywhere from a few weeks to a few months.  During this time, Heather will still have her personal bills to tend to .  As we enter into the new year, we will also be facing new deductibles, co-pays, and co-insurance amounts that have to be met.  Since surgery is at the beginning of the new year, we will be facing very high medical bills very quickly.  Once Heather is finished with her entire course of treatment, the goal is to help her feel liberated from this experience by getting back out on her own.  It is a daunting task to worry about medical and personal bills and in the end not be able to live independently again.  Please help Heather be able to live independently after all of this.

First of all – please continue to pray. Prayers truly are the most important thing and are making a difference for Heather and carrying us as a family.  If you still find it in your heart to help, please donate anything you can. There is no amount too large or too small and every dollar is a blessing.   If you are unable to show your support financially, you can still help by sharing this post.

So how will your donation help Heather?
- Current medical and personal bills
- New deductibles, co-pays, and co-insurance amounts to be met after the first of the year
- Higher monthly insurance premium after the first of the year
- Ongoing/future medical and personal bills
- To live independently after she has recovered and beat cancer

Please continue to keep Heather and our family in your prayers.  God Bless.
