Too often, racehorses who fail to climb the ranks to fame and glory are left to toil in obscurity, running race after race until they eventually fall off the map to fates unknown without people to step in on their behalf. These athletes give their all every race, and deserve a dignified retirement in the care of a loving forever home.
Through dedicated networks of caring individuals and aftercare organizations, many lucky horses get this happy ending. Many do not.
Funds raised here will go towards the purchase of "Thorin," a thoroughbred gelding who is currently racing in New York. Although he won his first race, he has been unable to see the winner's circle again in 17 tries. He has dipped into the lower claiming ranks a few times already, and I would like to retire him before his blips stop appearing on my radar. He is only 4 years old, and my hope is to retire him while he is still sound so he has every chance at a second career. The $6000 goal will cover his claiming price tag of $5000, shipping and veterinary expenses for the transition to his new life. Thank you for your help bringing my friend Thorin home!
