Idi Diallo's soccer dream
Donation protected
Idi Diallo is a young man originally from a small farming village in Ivory Coast who has long dreamed of becoming a professional soccer player. He left his family and the war zone they lived in and eventually made his way to New York via Ghana, and now he's trying out for professional soccer teams.
After reading about him in a Christmas Day NY Times article , I was able to connect with him on the phone and ended up getting him airline tickets to come to LA at the end of January 2017 to try out for LA Galaxy II for the second time . (UPDATE: Someone else also bought Idi tickets to LA, so I changed the tickets I bought for him to Orlando, where he will also try out in January. Big thanks to JetBlue for kindly waiving the change fee due to the charitable nature of the ticket purchase.)
Idi is very polite and humble, and was very grateful for this help. If you would like to help Idi too, you can donate here to help cover related travel expenses for this and other tryouts he has scheduled. All funds donated will be withdrawn directly from the account by Idi.
