Children of the Universe is founded in the year of April 2011, with the objections of providing education to the poor and orphan children of remote villages in Nepal. Due to poverty, remote location and lack of support, it is hard to get education and basic human needs for those children.

The main aim of Children of the Universe is to provide support to these helpless children with a secure and homelike environment give."

Children of the Universe is an orphanage in Kathmandu caring for 45 children.  The tragic earthquake in Nepal, which destroyed much of the city, and killed over 6,000 people, injuring thousands more, broke their facility far beyond repair, and now these children are without a real roof over their heads, just as the country is entering monsoon season.  Through a dear friend of mine, I was put in touch with Tsering, the managing director of the orphanage.  He is completely overwhelmed with the circumstances they all now find themselves in, and has been updating us as the situation evolves.  The rains this time of year are relentless and powerful, and poisonous snakes cover the area.  These children have no shelter but makeshift tents, and because of the destruction to their home, rebuilding is impossible.

Children of the Universe needs to purchase land and rebuild their orphanage.  In the meantime, they need to rent a place to stay that provides proper shelter for these little souls.  They have little food.  These are things that we can provide for them - all it takes is money.  I'm adjusting this fundraiser, which was originally worded as a means for me to get over to Nepal and help physically, so that now all money coming in will go directly toward Tsering and the children he cares for.  Every cent that comes in to this fundraiser will go directly to CoU.

The reason I'm starting to fundraise now is because of the terrible tragedy in Nepal.  My friend and partner felt immediately called to the country when she found out - was literally woken up in the middle of the night in pain over it.  That's how callings work.  Through dumb luck (or something much greater), she found a connection to an orphanage in Nepal called Children of the Universe.  It houses about 45 children in Kathmandu, and was over 90% destroyed in the earthquake.  The children are currently sleeping in makeshift beds outside, and Tsering, the man who takes care of them, is beside himself over how to rebuild their lives.  These are some pictures he sent her - after she asked about whether they needed people like us to come and help - along with an emphatic 'YES!' :
