I need to get to Gothenberg Sweden so I can finish writing this book, which will share this amazing story!
I must be in Gothenberg no later then Wednesday night so I can cover the last 2 events of this race! These funds are to cover my travel expenses so that I can focus on finishing this book.
I am traveling bare bones, sleeping on couches, doing what ever it takes to get this book finished.
But I can’t do it without your help!
Why this book now?
This year's Volvo Ocean Race has the first all women’s team in over 12 years. And I believe that people need to hear the amazing personal stories from these women who have continued to push the boundaries. Along with the stories of previous Whitbread (the original name of the race) and Volvo Ocean Races. Their stories will inspire you, even if you are not a sailor, as they are stories of personal challenge, spanning 43 years of history and determination.
Never before has all this information been brought together in one place. It's time to celebrate these amazing women who, often against all odds, were determined to sail around the world in this race that is often referred to as "The Everest of Sailing".
There are still many interviews to film and record, along with collecting historical photographs. Then comes the process of laying out the book, along with the final edits. I have already hired both an Art Director and Editor to produce the highest quality book possible. I'm so excited to bring these stories to life to remind women - and girls - that truly anything is possible.
