In 2013, four students approached English and History teachers at Framingham High School. They had identified a deficiency in the extra curricular opportunities that the school offered to students: our high school did not offer any kind of service trip. These students' idea and energy motivated the teachers to join them in attempting to address this need and last year, Framingham High School offered its first international Social Justice Service Trip - to Costa Rica!

On this Service Trip, students live not as tourists but as Ticos. They stay in homestays, experience native Costa Rican culture, eat purely Tico food, conduct physical labor to meet the needs identified by the community itself, and explore the mesmerizing ecosystem of Costa Rica. It is an unrivaled experience at FHS in the change it effects in students' perspectives, belief systems, future goals, behavior, and lives.

Last year's trip was incredibly successful, and this coming April these same teachers are taking a new group of equally promising students to claim their places as active and perceptive global citizens. One goal of our program is to create a trip that does not only seek to enact social justice through our actions but through our very state of being. As a result, we are raising funds in order to make this trip an equitable opportunity for all students at Framingham High School. Please consider donating to our cause!
