The admission process into public universities in Nigeria is anything but easy. The national exams that are prerequisites for entry do not have transparency that positions a candidate for success. Couple that with a corrupt system and the chances of getting in becomes slimmer. It becomes a game of who has the most money and know the right people. My vision for my country is that one day I can help change the education system and support students who wouldn’t go for lack of funds. Some people navigate the treacherous system honestly and secure admission. Meet Chidinma!
Chidinma has a tenacious spirit which I greatly admire. Her journey to gain admission into a university at home has been froth with obstacles. Year after year, she held on to the hope that her dreams for higher education will become a reality. Well it did! She recently gained admission into a university to major in English Studies. She did the hard part. She got in against all odds.
My vision for Chidinma is for her to go to school, concentrate on her studies, and continue contributing to society in a meaningful way. I refuse to let lack of funds be the reason Chidinma has to give up her dreams. I am standing with her and I hope you will do the same as well. The cost for her first semester is ~N184,000 ($1,000)*. This includes all fees—tuition, administrative items, and text book allowance. Please help me raise the money for this awesome young lady to go pursue her dreams! I am hoping she finds in us “the right people.”
