Re-Open Pioneer Community Center

Tax deductible

The Pioneer Community Center (aka Pioneer Church) has been closed and is unavailable for use for any function.  The reason for the closing is that the sprinkler system that was initially installed years ago during a remodel was never hooked up.   We, the Pioneer Community Association Board members, are doing much needed updates to our current fire suppression system in order to bring it up to code.  This means that we have to upgrade the existing pipes throughout the building and build a bunker under the front stairs to house the controls and alarm system.  If we don’t get this project done, we won’t be able to reopen for the spring/summer concert season.    So far we have secured $7000 toward the project from grants, but still have a long way to go in order to get the project started.  The total cost of the project will be $35,000.   This beautiful church, built in 1895, is the most prominent landmark in Cathlamet. The uniquely designed church sits in the middle of town and its tall tower peeks above the rooftops. It has been used for weddings, art shows, musical revues and other occasions, and is a common photo opportunity for tourists.   Please help us get this iconic building back open so the community can once again use it!
