You’ve seen the photos – maybe you’ve even taken some yourself – and now it’s time to get involved in our aim to make a real difference. The circumstances surrounding Michael Brown’s death are devastating, and unfortunately his story is not one unique only to America.
On the morning of the Ferguson decision we thought it was important to show our solidarity in some way, however small. Representing the Cambridge University Black and Minority Ethnic Campaign and the Cambridge BME women's network 'Fly' we aim to show our support in ways which are both tangible (by fundraising!) and intangible (we will be releasing our #blacklivesmatter Tumblr page shortly). We received an overwhelming amount of support from across the university, for which we are very grateful!
Please join us in donating to two charities. One born out of the consequences of UK police brutality - the Stephen Lawrence Charitable Trust. The other supporting those who are affected by discrimination on a daily basis, providing food for families in Ferguson - the St Louis Area Foodbank.
