A Kingdom Christmas
Donation protected
On the evening of Wednesday December 3, 2014, Denzel Fields, Lester Houge Jr., Miss Morehouse, Brittany "Reeci" Botts, and the Brothers of the Psi Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc., along with several other key participants will be hosting A Kingdom Christmas: A Holiday of Hope.
This event will consist of various creative performances from several students attending Clark Atlanta University, Spelman, and Morehouse College!
The purpose of this event is to spiritually motivate students as they prepare for finals week, and simultaneously provide hope and love to a family! We will be adopting The Foley family and City of Refuge Homeless Shelter for Christmas!
After one of the world's most horrific natural disasters, Hurricane Katrina, Ms. Myra Foley had no other choice but to evacuate New Orleans, relocating to Atlanta, Ga. It was in Georgia where Ms. Foley attempted to recover, but faced the devastating reality of a failing economy and unemployed for three years, Ms. Foley was rejected by those she trusted, left homeless, and emotionally drained.
While trying to find a place of residence for herself, she discovered that her grandchildren, Rashad (5 yrs.) and Ashiana (3 yrs.) Foley were being neglected by their mother. After being denied by multiple homeless shelters because of her single status, The City of Refuge miraculously opened their doors to Ms. Foley. A close friend of the children's mother informed Ms. Foley that Rashad and Ashiana were delivered to her home with a busted lip and bruised forehead. To prevent the young children from being placed in state custody, legal accommodations that were previously established with the Division of Family and Children Services, gave Ms. Foley temporary guardianship over her grandchildren.
The City of Refuge gladly made adjustments to place Ms. Foley, along with Rashad and Ashiana in a comfortable living space. Despite many difficulties, Ms. Foley has greatly demonstrated perseverance to create the best life she can for the three of them.
We have been compelled to take on the divine task of making this the most memorable holiday season for Ms. Myra, Rashad, and Ashiana Foley! Please help us reach our goal so that we may provide the Foley family and the Atlanta City of Refuge Church & Shelter with clothes and gifts during this season of love!
