Hudson County Tree Planting Fund
We are NBEarthTalks, a movement based in North Bergen committed to protecting the environment and uplifting the green initiatives throughout Hudson County. The movement is founded by Bella Rodriguez and SEXYSUSTAINABILITY with the mission to work together, without hierarchy, to engage our local communities.
More trees need to be planted throughout Hudson County to protect the lungs of our community. They provide clean air for us to breathe around the city infrastructure we live in. We are actively working with town officials to coordinate the process of purchasing, approving property permits, and planting the trees.
✨ WHEN?
Trees are typically planted in Autumn as their survival over the Winter will determine their durability. There is a chance that we can plant before the beginning of Summer, but most likely we will be planting in September.
✨ BUDGET?
Each tree costs approximately $200 - $250. We are accounting for both the tree itself and the installation costs, which can make that amount higher.
✨ LOCATION?
We want the majority of our trees to be planted in highly polluted areas throughout Hudson County, which differs for each town. By planting these trees, we will be combating pollution caused by extensive travel. The towns we are partnering with are Secaucus, North Bergen, Jersey City, Kearny, Bayonne, and Hoboken. Landowners are welcome to reach out to us for help in planting a tree in front of their property. We’d be happy to help you with the process!
✨ VOLUNTEER
Get your gardening gloves and join us in volunteering to plant these trees! This is a great hands-on, educational opportunity to learn how a tree is planted. Hopefully, we can inspire each other to plant more trees. Here is a quick tutorial to familiarize yourself with the process of planting a tree.
✨ EXCESS FUNDING
Tree planting isn’t the only goal that we have in our minds and hearts. Any excess funding will go towards community projects that give back to the environment and to the people. Such projects include community fridges, composting programs, rain gardens, and more!
