Hound Haven  is the product of Melanie's love for all dogs and her vision for the day when every dog has a FURever home! Hound Haven's humble beginnings started with rescuing dogs out of her own home, while gathering a group of volunteers and fosters.

Hound Haven shared the common issues many rescues face:
-solely relying on donations
-no boarding facilities
-not enough foster homes
-foster bailouts
-cost of keeping dogs in boarding
-adoption returns for various reasons
-overwhelming amount of people looking to rehome their dogs

In order to address some of these issues, she opened 'Homegrown Hounds ' in 2014, a small store in East Dallas, where she makes and sells homemade dog food and treats- with all proceeds going directly to the rescue dogs.  She is able to keep some of the adoptables, to avoid relying only on donations and having to cover some expensive boarding fees.

We are now acquiring a new facility that can save up to 75 dogs! We need YOUR help to make Melanie's vision a reality!  We have to raise $17,500, and need volunteers to assist with remodeling the facility. This money will cover the cost of paint and supplies, contractors, electricians, etc. Hound Haven is no longer able to stay in their current facility and this is their only option to keep the dogs.
