(ACHIEVED) OBJECTIVE: 1
Louis' trusted travelling companion - his Van - was off the road. And now, thanks to you all...is again useable. He uses it for travel, and accommodation, when on tour and collaborating with other artists & musicians. Thankfully he does not have to LIVE in his van as he did for so many years. But now he has the mobility to attend to his projects, collaborations and touring.
There were a number of mechanical repairs required to get through registration. The first $4000 of this campaign were spent on this first objective, (for Brakes, Engine, Tyres, Electrical, General Service, CTP, Rego & Insurance).
(ONGOING) OBJECTIVE 2:
Some of the rest of the funds raised (est: $6000) are to cover Petrol, Accommodation & other Touring costs - for planned trips around Australia, including the more remote cities and towns, with collaborations along the way. This not only enables a more extensive touring itinerary - but at times will mean that Louis will be able to bring other musicians on board.
(ONGOING) OBJECTIVE 3:
Performing in places like Darwin, Perth, Alice Springs, Tasmania and New Zealand requires a greater budget. So airfares & accommodation need to be included. (est. $5000)
As with the first concert, of The Art of Darkness, on Black Friday 13th March 2015, although there were substantial costs involved in staging this 11 piece band at the premier Factory venue, there were enough net profits put aside to invest back into the touring fund. But the cycle continues. This first concert cost $7000 alone to stage, and took 4 months of planning and marketing - to be a successful, professional and marginally profitable night. Remembering, this was employing local musicians with no accommodation or travel costs.
So it is always a tenuous unertaking to tour. Musicians, accommodation, per diems, transport, backline and marketing all make the budget a challenge for out of town shows. But that IS what this FUND is for. To assist the ongoing process - of allowing Louis to perform further afield and on an ongoing basis, albeit more likely in a solo or smaller combo format.
(ONGOING) OTHER GOALS:
Louis will be launching another a new release: the Retrospective album To Ride a Dead Pony (featuring Rare Live and Studio recordings of Wet Taxis, Paris Green, etc.) Due to this campaign he has created great interest from fans and supporters all over the world. He is currently working with state and city promoters in Australia for a comprehensive tour, with potential festival dates also in the pipeline.
This activity may help to slowly raise the capital that will put him a step closer to his ultimate goal of preserving and restoring original multitrack analogue master tapes for new works, re-workings, and collaborations with his vast body of work and the performances of so many of his gifted fellow musicians on tape. And his shared vision with the National Film and Sound Archives of Australia will be possible, to protect this material for future generations, including the important ephemera, budgets, posters, faxes, photos and videos, TV specials and films, from Australia and around the world.

Received a cultural arts grant from Australia Council for the Arts - to release piano-vocal album "Soliloquy".
