Who I am

I am James Logan, the Founder and CEO of Hire Level Coaching, a career coaching firm designed to help people land jobs by helping them throughout the job search and career advancement process.  After graduating college, I landed my dream job as an International Recruitment Coordinator and traveled the world to recruit international students. After three years and 30 countries, I decided to seek new challenges and opportunities and landed my second dream job as the Outreach Program Coordinator for the Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan, where I ran programs to help students from underrepresented backgrounds prepare for business education and careers.  I would have done either of these jobs for free.

How I got started

Since I did something I loved, my friends and family asked for me to help them do the same. So I started helping them with their resumes, cover letters, LinkedIn profiles, prepare for interviews, etc. That evolved to delivering presentations and workshops at my church. The advice I offered helped a few people land jobs and they referred me to their friends. My demand soon increased, which led me to incorporate my business in 2013. After a year of running Hire Level Coaching part-time, I quit my full time job to devote all of my attention to growing the company while helping many more people advance their careers.

It works!!!

So far, I've helped 200 people land jobs and/or advance their careers. Check out some of our testimonials here . We’ve helped people land jobs at national companies like General Motors, Ernst & Young, and Intercontinental Hotels, local organizations such as the University of Michigan, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, and Quicken Loans. We’ve helped people advance their careers in many different sectors, including technology, education, government, non-profit, health care, and finance. We've helped people with all levels of education from high school graduates to those with professional and doctorate degrees. We've helped the unemployed and those in the most respected professions, including doctors, lawyers, and educators. The goal is to help them communicate more effectively throughout the job search and career advancement process. And everyone, no matter where they are in their career, can stand to communicate their value more effectively. Why I’ve started this campaign

I'm starting this campaign because although I help a lot of people, I also turn a lot of people away. At first, I rejected the idea that people couldn't afford my services because I pride myself on making my services affordable to the average young professional.  But I soon realized that my thinking was flawed. As a social entrepreneur, I struggled with the idea that I had to turn people away and I've contemplated many ways to not have to, which is why I’m conducting this campaign. The people who need my help most are difficult to employ and happen to be those who have trouble paying for my services. These people tend to be single-parents, veterans, the chronically unemployed, and those with criminal records.

My goal

My goal is to raise $10,000 to help those individuals with my services. With this amount, we can help more than 100 people advance their career. If we exceed our goal, obviously we will help more people. This is a way for you to pay it forward. Maybe you don’t need our services, but you know someone who does. You likely know someone who really needs it but can't afford it. Making a contribution to this campaign will go a long way and could change the lives of so many people. Considering the fact that Detroit’s unemployment rate is nearly twice that of the nation’s average, a lot of people need this service.

Why you should contribute

You should contribute to this campaign because you can make a big difference in lives of many people. Don't go fund me, go fund them. Go fund the single mother who struggles to make ends meet. Go fund the war veteran who is having trouble re-integrating into society after fighting for our most basic freedoms. Go fund that individual who has struggled to find a job despite her best efforts, and is on the brink of giving up hope. Go fund the person who made a mistake earlier in life who desires to do the right thing. Go fund your neighbor, go fund your cousin, go fund your friend, go fund your family members as they seek to attain a higher quality of life through a better job.
