Like all of us answered, Dave has thousands of times as well... this time he didn't swim back to the top.
Imagine waking up in a hospital remembering what happened and when you go to hug your family, you can't. This is what Dave is living right now.
Just a regular guy, Dave Hill was injured on September 6, 2014 after an accident jumping into the pool. On what was a happy occassion, he and his wonderful girlfriend Nicole attended a beautiful wedding and Dave was a groomsmen. In peaceful Alabama, friends and family surrounded a perfect couple saying their vows. The reception was fun and filled with happiness on a magical property overlooking a mirror-like lake.
About three hours into the reception, everyone started bringing their focus to the enourmous pool near the dancefloor! Like every single person before him, Dave jumped in. The pool was filled with people when suddenly another groomsmen noticed Dave lifeless at the bottom. Tragically, he hit his head on the bottom.
He fractured his C4 & C5 vertebrae and is now paralyzed from the neck down. Not knowing what else to do, his friends, family and loved ones have converged to formulate this recovery plan.

We now know Dave Hill as Hillstrong. We believe he will get through this. The good news is Dave does have insurance and is getting the immediate medical attention that he needs. His recovery, on the other hand, has many possible paths.The average first year cost of a high tetraplegia injury is $1,023,924 with subsequent year costs of $171,808. These are astounding numbers and are just the beginning. Expert treatment at top facilities can be much more expensive and most is not covered by insurance.
