Honestly, I do not know where to begin. My name is SirMark. It pains me to know that what I am about to explain has happened to anyone. But there is a greater hurt knowing it happened to a baby, my niece.
I have three sisters, one older and two younger. One of my younger sisters, Rae'Chelle, is the mother of Rae'Ana.
Rae'Ana aka "Jelly" is a happy, playful, smart, lovable baby girl. She picks up and understands things so well. She is a joy to everyone who meets her!
On the morning of January 3, 2016, Rae'Chelle gave Jelly a kiss as she left home for work, leaving Jelly in the care of Jelly's father. Later that afternoon, Rae'Chelle received a frantic call at work, urging her to rush to the hospital.
Jelly sustained multiple injuries including broken ribs on both sides, fractured pelvis, damage to internal organs(lungs, kidneys, and spleen), muscle damage, and severe damage to her brain.
Jelly's father told several different accounts of
what happened to her while she was in his care. All of these stories include taking her to a third party location.
Less then 24hrs after the incident, police retrieved video from surveillance cameras located throughout the apartment building, showing that Jelly's father only left the apartment for approximately five minutes before retreating into the apartment and rushing back out with Jelly in arms, heading to the hospital.
The doctors informed that it appears Jelly was kicked several times in her body and that her head was either repeatedly bashed against a hard surface or continuously struck with a hard object.
Jelly is currently in the Pediatrics Intensive Care Unit on life support, fighting for her life! Words cannot explain the feeling my Sister, Family, and I are going through as we watch our Baby Girl in this critical condition.
Jelly loved and trusted her father and for him to be involved with her predicument is unfathomable.
I love my niece! I was there when she was born! I cut her umbilical cord! I cannot bare to watch her in the hospital under such circumsances! I love all my family. I feel as though I am the protector of my mom, sisters, nieces, and nephews. I just keep wishing I would have been there to protect my only niece. But I continue to pray, knowing God will make everything alright.
My poor sister has not left Jelly's bedside since this has happened. We have been praying and supporting her through this difficult time. Not only does she have Jelly to care for, she is currently pregnant as well. We all know that stress is not good, especially for a pregnant woman.
Everything just feels so surreal. My aunt (Mom's sister) just lost her battler to cancer on Dec 27th, 2015. The day we were planning her funeral service, exactly one week later, Jelly is fighting for her life!!
Rae'Chelle has had her full focus on Jelly and her battle. She is unsure of when she will return to work due to all that is going on.
We need all the prayer, love, and support at this time to help Rae'Chelle and Rae'Ana aka "Jelly" weather this storm!
We are thankful and apppreciative for all the warm and positive energy!!!
