Herrera Family

On the evening of February 7th, 2015, Manorhaven resident Fernando Herrera was eating dinner with his family when a piece of bread got stuck in his esophagus and cut off his air supply. Unable to breathe for twenty minutes, he went into cardiac arrest and was rushed to Winthrop Hospital, where he now remains in a permanent vegatative state.

A devoted husband and father, Fernando has worked locally as a handyman and gardener. His wife, Pilar, works as a nanny and babysitter. They have one child in the school district who is in elementary school, and are active members in church and in the Port Washington community.

Without Fernando’s income, Pilar is unable to cover their basic living expenses such as rent, food and gas.  All money raised will be used to help the family as well as put into a long term fund to help their daughter.

Please help this wonderful family while they deal with this terrible tragedy!

En la tarde del 07 de Febrero 2015 , un residente de Manorhaven, Fernando Herrera, estaba cenando con su familia cuando un pedazo de pan se le quedó atascado en el esófago y le cortó el suministro de aire . Incapaz de respirar durante varios minutos , él sufrió un paro cardíaco y fue trasladado de urgencia al Hospital Winthrop , donde permanece en un estado vegetal .

 Un esposo y padre devoto , Fernando ha trabajado localmente como un como albanil y jardinero. Su esposa , Pilar , trabaja como niñera. Tienen una hija en el distrito escolar , y son miembros activos en la iglesia y en la comunidad de Port Washington.

Sin los ingresos de Fernando , Pilar no es capaz de cubrir sus gastos básicos , tales como el alquiler , la comida y el gas.
