Help Tamara Breathe & Get New Lungs
Donation protected
Tamara is 25 year old Australian girl who suffers from Cystic Fibrosis. Cystic fibrosis is a genetic disease that mostly affects the lungs and digestive system. It results from a fault in a particular gene. As a result, the mucus produced by the lungs and intestines to be thick and sticky.
Everyday it is not only a struggle for Tamara to breath but also very expensive. Tamara's lungs are currently only functioning at 17%
Tamara needs oxygen to shower, sleep, go in the car, go shopping with her mum or to her partners house, also when the weather changes . When it's hot it's harder for Tamara to breathe. Tamara also needs a wheelchair to help her get around downtown, places she still likes to go when she's feeling upto it and also to all of her doctors appointments and other appointments she has to attend for her health. If Tamara gets a chest or lung infection it means an immediate stay in the hospital, Tamara has already been in hospital 3 times this year alone as well as monthly visits to the hospital for an infusion.
On a daily basis Tamara needs:
- oxygen
- medications twice a day
-Enzymes with every meal and snack to help digest her intake
- insulin
- puffers
- nebulizers
- feeding tubes
- special milk for her feeding tubes
-Nutritional supplements
- constant doctor and hospital costs.
Tamara also needs to Attend St Vincent's Hospital in Sydney every 6-8 weeks for regular clinic visits for checkups to make sure everything is still okay and nothing has changed.
If Tamara is fortunate enough to receive the double lung transplant she desperately needs the medications required for her body to accept the new lungs are also very expensive.
All of these expenses are not covered by health care these are all out of pocket expenses.
What Your Donations Mean To Tamara
"if I got my transplant it would mean everything to me I would be to get my life back on track I've had to give up alot of things and move back to mum and dads I miss being able to do things on my own . I'd love to be able to get another job, working is what I've always wanted to do and I was able to do that when I had my first transplant but have had to give it up about a year and a half ago due to not being able to work anymore. Most importantly being able to breathe again and also walk longer distances" Tamara
Through all Tamara's health struggles she can remained an upbeat, positive and inspiring girl. She has always been independant in the past with medical costs but now needs your help.
Any and all donations no matter how big or small all go towards helping with Tamara's medical costs, help her stay healthy and improve lung function until she can receive a lung transplant. All donations are greatly appreciated and going to a great cause :)
