Help Our Scarlett

Matt and Katie have been together for nine years and were married last October. They were estatic and overjoyed to find out that they were having a baby due this September. At their 20 week ultrasound, not only did they find out they were having a beautiful girl, but they also found out that she had a congenital heart defect known as Transposition of the Great Arteries (TGA).



About TGA

TGA occurs when the two main artieries are switched during development, causing blood to not be pumped right throughout the heart and lungs. Katie will need to be closly monitored with additonal appointments alongside a pediatric cardiologist and heart surgeon and when Scarlett is born, she will need open heart surgery within her first week of life to switch the arteries into the proper place, with the possibilty of a balloon septostomy occuring right after birth. 

Scarlett will need to recover in the hospital for at least two weeks. Katie will need to take additional time of work, as well as time to enjoy her when she finally comes home. Anything will help the couple with Scarlett's medical bills, appointment costs and additional care Scarlett will need in the future.
