It's been awhile, but in the month I was away, I raised about $200 through a temporary part-time job, and all the money will be going to Muldercare.
I know I've hit up so many of you already asking for a donation, and thank you to all who donated. Seriously. Thank you.
I'm posting this time to say if you haven't donated before or feel compelled to donate again, I'd greatly appreciate it, but what I'd really appreciate is if you could either a) share this page with your own social network and/or b) let me know of any sort of telecommuting/part-time/temporary jobs I might be interested in to raise more money for Mulder's treatment.
I'm hoping that with the tough stuff behind us, my usual vet (who is located not far from me) can take us on now, and that will save a lot on taxi fare. I'm also trying to find a roommate situation (god help us all) in order to try to save some money that way. Mulder's stable, and in about half an hour, he'll remind me it's dinner time, but it's the monthly exams and the meds (which run $400-500/month -- gah!) that are keeping him stable, and so again, I ask you for any little bit that could help.
It took only ONE try to get Mulder into his carrier! And while I won't learn the results of Mulder's blood work for at least another two days, I did learn that he has established quite the fan club at the vet's. It's pretty cute. :)
Anyways, I'm also checking in to request that if you can not donate money to help me out with Mulder's vet bills, that you donate your time and Facebook page space instead to share this page with the friends in your network. We'd both greatly appreciate it.
In any case, thanks for all your support! I remain hopeful about this situation, and will post more updates as I get them.
Hey all, please send Mulder some good thoughts his way as he'll be going to the vet for a check-up tomorrow after his first week on chemo. Also send good thoughts my way as I'm the one who needs to put him in his carrier to take him to the vet in the first place. :)
Good morning everyone! So the official word doesn't come until Thursday or Friday but I think if Mulder is crabbing at me that he's not getting his food quick enough, it's a very good sign. :) I'll keep you all posted!
I also have landed a small part-time job transcribing online AP Psychology lectures, and while the money earned from that will be going to Mulder's vet bills, as well, I could still use everyone's help with defraying the costs of those! :)
Please share this webpage with your friends if you haven't already, and if you haven't already donated, please consider giving a small amount such as $5. Mulder and I would greatly appreciate it. :) Thank you all for your support and Happy Monday.
Consider this: If everyone I knew donated just $10 to this cause (you know, a lunch out), I'd make my goal immediately. If everyone donated $5, almost all of Mulder's surgical expenses would be covered.
Mulder's treatments have been going amazingly well. Since I last wrote, not only have his tests always come back normal, but I was told that the vet techs are really surprised to learn he is not 8 or 9 years old, but 16. On July 28, he will have been living successfully with lymphoma for one year. The treatments and medicine he's received during this time undoubtedly have helped him greatly.
I've been using my credit cards to pay for his treatment and medicine, because that's really my only option at this point. I'm still looking for odd jobs and grants, but the monthly minimum payments are starting to get expensive, and I don't want to have to stop treatment for Mulder because I can no longer afford it, especially as he seems to be doing so well now.
So again, I am appealing to my friends and family for help. Last time, you guys were all so incredibly supportive emotionally as well as financially, and I can't even begin to tell you how much your support means to me. Small amounts add up, so any help you can give me is most appreciated.
