Chelsea Zelenka is and always was a beautiful, talented girl who just begs for a normal life. At age five after a year of pediatric testing after massive weight gain and horrible strain on her body which made her skin unable to stretch...she was told she had no thyroid, however she was also told she might become Diabetic and of course two years later our family learned to give shots and count carbs. She was seven then...she is twenty now and in thirteen short years she has been diagnosed with twenty illnesses (including unprovoked seizures & Cushings Disease) so she is not able to drive or work.
She takes a fist full of pills every morning and evening just like the Doctors say but she just keeps getting sicker. In 2012 she had a Pulmonary Embolism in her lung after the hospital diagnosed her with anxiety three times...we almost lost her, but she was so tough and she pulled through.
Two weeks ago we made another trip to the ER because of a terrible pain behind her knee...we explained to the Doctor that she had a blood clot before and we were VERY worried...a few hours later we were assured she had a torn muscle and to go home with muscle relaxers and she would be fine...but then her foot turned gray and cold.
When we returned they finally found an arterial clot in her calf that was cutting off all blood flow to her right foot. After surgery to remove the clot and much hope her foot would be normal...all she has so far is pain and more pain and numbness. The Doctors seem to know nothing, so we wait.
Our family is struggling to pay medical bills, household bills and purchase medicine after missing so much work. We live in an upstairs duplex with fifteen steps and honestly if her foot never heals back to normal we will have to move to a single level and right now it seems impossible.
On a side note Chelsea lost her fiance last September in our home and she found him deseased in our only bathroom, so living here has been a real nightmare for her.
When she gets out of the hospital she will need Doctors and medication that her insurance will not cover. We are hoping you will help Chelsea work to get her twenty year old life back...she deserves so much more than the hand she has been dealt. Thank You for all the support!
