Help Canoa after Earthquake

My name is Anja Krontoft and I have lived in Ecuador back and forth for five years. I have spent a lot of time in Canoa, a small coastal town that On saturday 16th of april 2016, around seven o'clock in the evening local time, Ecuador was hit by an earthwuake that was measured as 7.8 on the Richter Scale. The impact of such an earthquake is considered as major and destructive if you are close to the epicenter. Canoa among other villages was situated within the epicenter.


Just a few days ago Canoa was a beautiful little village on the coast with around 5000 inhabitants, a beloved place by tourist. Now around 80% of the village is in ruins or is expected to fall apart. The situation is desperate and heartbreaking, between 150- 200 persons have lost their lives only in this little village.

Many have been trapped under houses for days crying desperatley for help. Many more are injured and friends of mine have lost their familymembers, homes and their busisnesses.

They have been without water, food, roof over their head, electricity. The smell of the bodies from the corps has been so strong they have not been able to breath.

Ecuadorians from all over the country have showed an incredible effort and solidarity to help the affected areas of the country, those who don't have much have given so much.

Please, we who have so much more, let us help aswell. 

Every cent of the money gathered will go to helping the people in this village with everything they will need to survive and get back on their feet this coming time. It could be food, water, medicin, diapers, tents, babymilk, blankets. Or stoves, clothes, matresses, bricks, roofs. Whatever is needed most at the time.
