Helping Animal Rescues

As the daughter of a veterinarian, and an animal sciences major, my goal in life is to help animals in any way I can. Growing up I would bring animals home constantly and was taught early on the responsibility that comes with taking care of a pet. I've always wanted to open up an animal rescue of my own but I want to finish vet school first. I feel that this way I can assure I have the means to properly care for each animal I take in. Until then I am still contributing in any way possible whether it be volunteering or donating.
I follow a number of rescues in Arizona, where I go to school, and New York, my home, and I would love to be able to help them as much as possible. Not only because they are doing a remarkable thing by changing the lives of animals who had no say in their fate but because they are nonprofit and rely on their own income and donations. Not all of them have big fancy websites or any means of marketing themselves other then in person. Most of them are people who go to the local shelter and find the pets who need the most help at that time. They have devoted all of their free time and any resources they have including their home to these animals.
Being a college student I am not always able to financially donate as much as I'd like to but with the help of this website I may be able to give some generous donations from everyone. I know they would be greatly appreciated. My hope is to raise money for all of them, not just a specific one, and then post a picture of them receiving the money from me. I was also thinking I could include each donors name on a card to give to the rescue. If there is anything I know, it's that their face when receiving any sort of donation is priceless and the gratitude that comes along with it is endless.
