Help Moses Lake PD's K9 Program

In 2018 the Moses Lake Police Department started it's first ever K9 program. Since its inception, Officer Nick Stewart and K9 Chief have been working hard keeping the citizens of Moses Lake safe. They have been able to apprehend several violent offenders, assist patrol officers with building searches during burglary investigations and have participated in numerous community events and presentations.
The K9 program is funded solely through community donations and grants. Citizens, businesses, service clubs and grants accounted for revenue needed to acquire K9 Chief, pay for his and Officer Stewart's academy training, purchase needed training equipment and to outfit a patrol car with the required K9 safety equipment.
Due to the outstanding work and success that Officer Stewart and K9 Chief have generated in the past three months, the department has began looking at expanding the program. Adding a second K9 will allow for coverage seven days a week and will give officers more tools to assist them in apprehending criminals.
The Moses Lake Police Department has been blessed with several donations to help expand the K9 program. We have received a large donation from a local grant organization, Federal grant funding, two local service clubs that made a sizable donation through a golf fundraiser and community members continue to send donations in support of the program. The department began selling K9 shirts as a fundraiser and the community has been very responsive purchasing dozens of shirts.
We currently have over $40,000 in donations and need an additional $30,000 to make a second K9 a reality. Large donations are tax deductible as the Moses Lake Police Department is a qualifying organization under the IRS Code 170(c)(1).
Please help us to achieve our goal of adding a second K9 to our program. Our goal is to have enough funds to purchase the K9 in the February of 2019 and have the dog ready for the streets by June of 2019.
