Home funding & cost of living

My name is Tithe Samuel. I am a Dutch citizen and proud father of two sons, ages four and fourteen.

This fund will be used to support us for a couple of months in the Netherlands until we sort out the required documentation for registration, health insurance, employment, etc.

My story goes back to February of 2008 when I was wrongfully imprisoned on the Maltese Islands. I was set up by a man who needed to point at someone else just to get a lesser sentence. Unfortunately, this somebody was me. https://aliceopheliataylor.com/2017/03/17/nine-years-is-too-long-for-trial-by-association/

The day I was arrested, it seemed that in the eyes of the officers and legal officials I was already considered to be guilty, being constantly told, "Don't worry, the years spent will be deducted when you are found guilty." I endured 7 years of forceful stay in Malta with constant monitoring, bullying, death threats, and many other unjust treatments by the authorities before I was even formally charged with a crime, and 2 more, for a total of 9 years captive before receiving a fair trial. Yet, on the 28th of April this year, following a 9-day trial by jury, I was found not guilty! Thank God, justice was done, and today I am free to return home. Even though I’m allowed to leave, my circumstance here has made me financially incapable of returning home…

When the Court confiscated my Dutch ID card and passport, no alternative identification document was given to me. Even though the court finally approved my request for ID in 2013, I was denied when I went to acquire it. This has deprived me access to both public and private institutions and services, which require proper identification.

Compounding this, by May of 2009, a huge tumour was discovered by my lower left back. This health condition impedes my regular daily activities. I cannot physically play with my younger son, earn physical employment, run, or bend down suddenly. When I tried working as a waiter, it was so hard, due to the sharp pain that the tumor radiates through my body.

The first doctor to see my medical condition only advised me to “wait until my lump gets bigger" and then a surgeon whom never met and who never examined me testified in the court that my condition could easily be treated in Malta. Losing faith in Maltese health care, I filed about a dozen of applications for permission obtain a second medical opinion in the Netherlands, but they were all denied.

The only less physically demanding job that I got through a friend’s help was going well until one day the police showed up at the office, and within a month I had lost my job. The friend who helped me lost her job there, as well. The wrongful arrest, denial of ID, negligent medical “care,” and bullying at my workplace are just simple examples of many more instances of injustice I’ve encountered during the years, preventing me from financially supporting my family and collecting savings. Therefore, my loved ones and I do not have the funds to move to the Netherlands.

You can read more about these financial barriers in detail in the formal petition I filed with the Her Excellency the President of Malta, which is at the link below. http://nebula.wsimg.com/93d1b606d61216968d9b8d886d236116?AccessKeyId=79C1778A222AE2AFF555&disposition=0&alloworigin=1
Despite these, I have attempted to create my own employment through creative works, including writing books.

I am heartbroken knowing that I have not been there for my older son. He was just an innocent four-year-old who needed a father figure growing up. Despite our Skype time together and some visits from him, we have both missed 9 years of each other's life, and I am looking forward to being with him permanently again. My wish is to find a home in the Netherlands for my young family and to be there for my older son as much as I can.

The past nine years has been a tough mental challenge for both my loved ones and myself, as we haven’t led a normal life. Every donation, no matter how big or small would help us to get closer to getting our life back, and will be greatly appreciated.
If you prefer to help through a purchase, you can buy a copy of my children’s book Conoobo and the Unknown Animal on the Treetop here: https://itun.es/mt/pTkRhb.l. The Apple store pays me 60 percent of each purchase.
If you cannot help through a donation or a purchase, then you can still help by sharing this campaign on your social media.

Despite all the negatives that surround my stay here in Malta, I have learned to appreciate little things in life because you never know when your entire world will be uprooted, and you will find yourself in a situation that is out of your control and beyond your comprehension.

I've lived each day of the past 9 years of my life as if it was to be the last, and what I've found, could only be keyed out as pure love. This love knows how to turn hate, anger, fear or pain into the most beautiful bloom. Love is creative!

Thank you!
