Help Gireeshan to Build a House

The women's forum of Kerala Cultural Society, Washington DC is organizing a fundraising initiative to help build a home for a needy family in Kerala.

Gireeshan, a manual laborer (coolie) aged 52, hails from Kozhikode and had been the sole breadwinner for his family of four until he was diagnosed with Schizophrenia recently. His wife spends her entire time tending to their mentally challenged 17-year-old daughter and now disabled husband. Their elder son, trying to finish up college with the help of Parivaar, a non-profit organization (http://www.parivaarnfpa.org), is the only hope this family has.

Gireeshan does not have a roof over his head. Presently, the family is living with his brother in a small house that is being shared by 12 members making it difficult for everyone staying there. The family is more concerned about the future of their mentally challenged girl without having the security of four walls around her, than the struggle for day-to-day survival. They are praying for help from kind-hearted people like you, so they can have a place to call their Home.

The entire cost for the materials and the building of a small house is estimated to be $8,000 with oversight and expertise provided by the members of ‘Parivaar’. Please consider donating an amount of any kind to help us reach this goal.

Thank you in advance for your donation and/or prayers.
