Helens Horses

The Pappinbarra Rd fire on the 12th of February 2017 burnt several homes down including one belonigng to Helen Riek whose 5 horses were also badly burnt. The on going care of these horses will involve fluid therapy, regular bandge changes, antibiotics and pain relief for several weeks at a significant expense that Helen is not in a position to afford. The Wauchope community has rallied around her providing shelter and feed for her horses, however the cost of veterinary material will be quite significant. The veterinary services are being donated free of charge by local vets, Vicki Lawrence and Wauchope Vets but Helen will still need assitance for the materials required over the comming weeks.

Helen Riek is a friend of mine that I have known for a number of years through endurance riding.  She has a great love for her horses and is devestated about the injuries that they have received.  The money raised by this campaign will go towards all the veterinary supplies that are required for daily medications, bandage changes and wound treatments along with the ongoing costs of caring for the sick animals during this time (feed, bedding, agistment etc).

A special account has been set up and all funds raised by this will go directly into that account which helen will have access to for payments of any bills incurred relating to the care of the horses whilst they recover.
