There are hundreds of dogs that suffer each year in Memphis. Many are chained to the ground and have no shelter. It's heartbreaking to see. I decided to form this group after seeing two dogs, each tied to separate trees. One was leaning into a hedge as far as it could to escape the bitter, cold winds. The other one couldn't lean against anything because it's chain was wrapped around the tree so tightly that it could only sit. Our hope is to educate people about the cruelty of chaining dogs and providing shelter for ones that don't. We aren't concerned with income level or the right and the wrong of not sheltering the dog. We do not plan to be confrontational, but will do our best to communicate with the dog owner, provide information and let them know about any free services they can use to make a dog's life better. Our ultimate goal would be to have owners bring dogs into their homes, instead of having a "yard dog."

We need funds to buy building materials for these doghouses. We hope to use volunteers to build them. We need a place to store our dog houses, which we may have to rent. There are other expenses, but that's the start. Please help us. We may not be able to find every dog that needs our help, but we promise to help everyone we find.
