Handie for Mandie

We always seem to wonder why bad things happen to good people. We say to ourselves that everything happens for a reason. We find that hardships have a way of making us stronger. Coming in countless variations, it shows up out of nowhere, when you least expect it. So many of us have experienced the horrifying word called cancer and the devastation it can cause.

Mandie DiCarlo, known by her peers and family members as a kind, sweet, lovable, innocent, beautiful human being, has had to deal with a rare form of cancer known as Grey Zone Lymphoma. At 16 Mandie went to battle, showing endless strength and perseverance, and with the support of her doctors, peers, and family, she was able to win that war. There is a wonderful feeling of relief when you come out on top, as you and your loved ones view every small detail of life with different eyes and a greater appreciation. This proud survivor from the small town of Wantage NJ, went on to do exceptionally well and graduated from High Point Regional High School. Now at the age of 18, her cancer came back with a vengeance and to target her most precious asset, her heart. Anyone that has been lucky enough to cross paths with this remarkable girl, has witnessed the most contagious genuine smile she continues to possess since her infantile days.

Margie and Fernando DiCarlo, her parents, work extremely hard to give their all to provide for their family. Mandie is the oldest of five children. Facing medical bills that are astronomical, it would take them several lifetimes to be able to catch up on all the expenses involved.

Crowdfunding is a new concept that is quickly gaining popularity. Essentially crowdfunding is a platform that allows projects to safely and securely gather funds for a cause as a whole from friends, family, and the community connecting social media to vastly spread the word. We ask the community to get involved in crowdfunding for humanity and lend a hand to Mandie and her family. Donations are greatly appreciated and will help fund Mandie’s precious days, her bucket list, and allow her parents to take time off of work to enjoy the time they have with Mandie and family. The minimum goal of $15,000 has been set for this peer to peer fundraising campaign.
