Our Adoption Journey
We are currently a family of three looking to add to our family. My husband works on the Naval Air Station as a work control administrator. I am a 5 th grade teacher and I am blessed to have a 15 year old step-son from my husband. He is an absolutely wonderful boy.
When we were first married seven years ago we were excited to see our family grow. I became pregnant soon after our marriage, but complications arose quickly. About 6-8 weeks into the pregnancy, during a check-up the doctors discovered that we were experiencing a molar pregnancy. This is when tissue that normally becomes a fetus instead becomes an abnormal growth in your uterus. Also, during that visit they discovered that I had a massive amount of fibrotic tumors along my uterus lining so that even when I got pregnant again, I would have a very high risk of miscarriage. We decided that a surgery to remove some of the largest ones was the best course of action.
After miscarrying the molar pregnancy, the doctors went in to see what they could do to make having and carrying a child more possible in our future. But it was not to be. All seemed fine at first, according to my doctor.
I was healing well and was released to go back into the classroom. A week later I was hemorrhaging internally and passed out on the bathroom floor. Gave my husband the scare of his life. I was (quite literally) at death's door from all the blood loss and was out cold for most of it. When I woke up, it was to find out that the stitches in my uterus had failed and the only way to save my life was by removing my uterus altogether.
When all was said and done, I not only had I miscarried what I thought was our child, but also the ability to have children at all. It was a very dark time for our family.
After a long road of healing, counseling, and prayer we are eager to try growing our family again...this time through adoption. We are asking for your help to make this dream a reality.
