Let's Save The Washington Theatre
The Washington Theatre opened on January 24th, 1927, with 4 vaudeville acts and a silent film called the Music Master from David Belasco.
It was converted into a twin theatre in 1978 and currently remains the same. The goal is to purchase the building for $250,000 with a downpayment of $50,000.
If we raise $125,000 by July 2015, we qualify for a grant thru Warren County Land Preservation for historic building acquistions witha 50% matching funds!
The goal is to renovate and restore the theatre back to its original splendor as a multi-cultural arts center, focusing on music and live entertainment.
Having the Washington Theatre around will benefit not just the community of Washington, but our entire region. It will provide a much needed venue for all forms of art as well as an economic stimulus to our downtown, becoming a tourist attraction for all to enjoy. The time has come to say thank you for all it has done, For the generations of families and friends who have gone here over the years and to give an opportunity for those growing up to experience their own memories.
What more could you ask for then to have a piece of Hollywood sitting right there in front of us.
