Help Us Get A School Bus

Tax deductible
We are the children of Global Samaritans Orphanage (GSO) in Zambia and we need a school bus so that we can finish high school.
We are able to complete grades 1-7 in a school within easy walking distance of the orphanage and grades 8 and 9 at the school built on the orphanage grounds. However, without a school bus, high school grades 10-12 are only available by moving to a boarding school many hours away.

Boarding school is an expensive and scary proposition. Imagine living through the pain and fear of losing your parents and then being forced to leave the home you have found at GSO, among people who love you and care for you, and go to live at a boarding school far away.

Your generous gift will allow GSO to purchase a school bus so that we can attend grades 10-12 in the city of Livingstone, Zambia, located only 20 miles from the orphanage.

Having a bus will allow us to be taken to school each morning and return home each evening. No longer will we have to be away from our brothers, sisters, and house parents for months at a time. By coming home each day, we can be nourished, both physically and emotionally. A school bus will also allow us to be taken to high school sporting events and other extracurricular activities.

Please help us reach our goal of raising enough money to buy a used school bus. We thank you for any gift you are able to give.

According to UNICEF and US statistics:

·      Only 38% of Zambian boys and 36% of Zambian girls attend high school.
·      The literacy rate for young women in Zambia is 58.5%, with young men in Zambia only slightly ahead at 70.3%.
·      Zambian boys and girls face huge obstacles to quality education, with government spending on education at only 1.3% of GDP, ranking 170th out of 173 countries ranked.
·      41% of Zambian children between the ages of 5 and 14 are involved in child labor, compromising their access to education.

Global Samaritans is committed to improving life for the next generation of leaders in Zambia...high quality education is a big part of the plan!
