On October 28th my six month old nephew went to the doctor because he was sleeping a lot more than normal and his abdomen was hard.
The doctor was concerned that there was something wrong with his liver and sent him to the hospital
After an ultrasound it was determined he had a very large tumor on his liver. He was transferred to Boston Children's Hospital where he had a mri ct scan and a biopsy. The MRI and CT showed the cancer has not spread which is good news but the biopsy is showing cancerous cells
It will be a few more days before we know what type of treatment he will need but we do know the tumor is too large to remove so he will need chemotherapy in order to shrink the tumor enough before surgery so hopefully they can save a large enough portion to avoid needing a transplant. This is going to be a long few months but Rett is a strong little man and will be a survivor
We appreciate any help you can give towards the medical expenses his family is going to encounter this year
