-----------------------------------------------------------------------

I have struggled with the effects of mental illness my whole life.

On a personal level, I have had a difficult journey dealing with my mother's condition which has kept her in an out of mental institutions all my life. She currently is, and will probably always be, in a facility for the rest of her life. As a witness to both the personal battles of loved ones, and the stigma associated with mental illness, I have long made it my mission to shed light on the realities of living with conditions that affect both millions of Americans and other people around the world.

I am a classically trained artist and have spent the past dozen years focusing on creating a unique expressionistic style of painting which has helped me heal the scars of my own inner emotional journey. It has taken many years to forgive my mother and come to grips with what has happened to us.

The series I am proposing here is one I have had a very hard time developing and exploring to its fullest. With the support of donors, my mission is to create a solid body of work that illuminates the lives and struggles of people with mental illness. The ultimate goal is to get this art into the mainstream to help their cause.

At the moment, this project is just a tiny seed. Any help to make this a reality would be greatly appreciated. Help me bring this art out into the world as a traveling exhibit so others with mental illness and those who are displaced into homelessness have a voice through my art.

With your help, hopefully we can help the world see the pain and suffering I see everyday. And perhaps, this will be one small step toward a better future.
