The perfect storm... Wayne Free, a Carolina boy steeped in soul and R&B discovers his love of music at a very early age. After many years of successful touring with the Swingin’ Medallions and the Embers as lead singer and musical coordinator, Wayne made the decision to step out on his own as a solo artist and form his own group - Wayne Free & The Getaway !
A chance meeting in Raleigh, NC introduces Wayne to LP Hitzigrath, a seasoned multi-instrumentalist who knows his way around a keyboard as easily as a guitar. LP is also technical wizard from Long Island, NY who has covered the east coast music scene like a nor'easter playing blues, rock and basically whatever comes his way.
Then, a midnight call from LP to Kristin Sayer "The Git-tar Player" seals the deal. Kristin was signed to Warner Brothers and has performed all over the country after having played with the best jazz and blues musicians in Detroit, MI. She is also a singer/songwriter and producer. As lead singer and lead guitar player of Sayer McShane, she then contacts her drummer Carolyn. Carolyn McShane "MC Shane", a Detroit native who has also played all over the country is also a multi-instrumentalist (drums, guitar & keyboards), singer/songwriter and recording engineer. Kristin and Carolyn have performed as Sayer McShane for over a decade and relocated to Raleigh, NC in 2003. The Motown infusion is complete.
Wayne Free & The Getaway play an incredible blend of soul, R&B, Motown, rock, blues, dance and more. With a strong command of their instruments, the band delivers an awesome performance with their big sound and solid harmonies. Now backed by a supergroup aptly titled The Getaway, Wayne Free has a complete powerhouse lineup and is poised to take his fans on a whole new journey. All the right elements have combined to create... the perfect storm.

This begins the next chapter in my musical journey. After months of planning, I now get so excited when I think of the musical freedom and possibilities that lie ahead with my new musical partners," said Wayne
"My vision as an artist is to entertain and touch each audience through my music. I have always wished that our higher being would work through me to touch or make a difference in someone’s life," he said.
