George the Cleft Palate Bully

My name is Kayla, and I am an assistant at a veterinary clinic in Olympia, WA. On a regular basis we do c-sections to deliver babies of all breeds but on November 12, 2014 in a litter of English Bulldog babies there was a special boy named Georgie. And this is where our story starts.
Georgie was born with a cleft lip and palate, and the breeder elected to humanely euthanize because these babies have very low survival rates. The doctors had not yet seen a baby with a defect that extreme as well overcome. I have always been a bully breed actavist especially when it comes to babies with cleft palates. Moral of the story is Georgie came home with me that night. Every hour he survived was a victory. There were several nights I thought I would lose him, and one night where I did and by a miracle he started breathing again with the help of CPR. Georgie has fought his way to every "land mark" in his development. Along with the palate and lip cleft, he was born with the use of only one nostril and has already had one surgery to restore his ability to breath properly. Because of his size and limited resources at a general practice it didn't get him all the relief he needs.
With this money he will finally get what will hopefully be the last surgery with the specialist Dr. Gustafson to repair the defect in his palate and hopefully give him a fighting chance of a long happy life.
Georgie currently volunteers at the local elementary school helping kids and encourging them to give compassion to people of all shapes and sizes. My ultimate goal is to get him certified as a therapy dog so we can share his amazing story to childern in hospitals and other schools across the area.
