We are going to paddle the entire Mississippi!
We, the women of Gals to the Gulf (Grace, Grace, Mandy & Siri), are setting out to paddle the Mississippi River to the Gulf of Mexico, and we need support to get us there!
We will be setting out in early October 2017 from the Headwaters in Northern Minnesota, and hope to reach the Gulf of Mexico in 80 days.
50% of our fundraising will be donated to Girl's and Boy's Outdoor Leadership Development (GOLD/BOLD) Program of the YMCA of the Twin Cities. GOLD, along with its male counterpart BOLD, seeks to empower, engage, and develop leadership skills in young people from different social, economic, ethnic, and religious backgrounds through challenging outdoor activities. We hope that with your help and contributions that we will be able to raise enough money to send a GOLD participant to a session of outdoor adventure camp in the summer of 2018.
We will be raising money unil the end of September, which we hope will allow us time to plan and appropriately use the money.
Funds donated to this campaign will also go to defering some of the cost of the trip itself. Paddling the entirety of the Mississippi is no short term endeavor, and while we will likely be paying for much of this trip out of our own pockets, we would love to defray the costs of food, fuel, and return travel.
