I have a need to share this story, because I have such deep respect for what the people of the Lakota Waldorf School have accomplished over the years: They are preserving the dying Lakota language, while giving the children new hope for the future with a lively, creative Waldorf approach.
The school, located on the poorest part of the Pine Ridge Reservation in Kyle South Dakota has managed to survive for many years. They made do with some old buildings and are now in need of some real class rooms.
The Campus Master Plan is there.
If we would only get the money for the first class room in American Indian style, it would draw the attention of the wider surroundings as a sign that the Lakota nation is able to rise above mere survival.
But first we need to reach out to more children in the wider surrounding of Wounded Knee, Manderson and Porcupine, which is only possible if people help us to get a bus, actually two buses.
Our aim is $10,000.
