“Every 15 Minutes” Fundraiser
Royal High School PTSA will be presenting the “Every 15 Minutes” program this year to all juniors and seniors on March 4th & 5th. During this 2 day program, all juniors and seniors will be shown what the consequences are for drinking and driving and how this affects the whole community. This is a 2 day program. We start the first day by announcing student’s deaths, Every 15 Minutes (These are students that have signed up to be in the program) at that time a rose is laid on their desk and a police officer reads their obituary. Later in the day there is a simulated fatality drunk driving accident staged at the school for students to witness. All emergency agencies respond to this accident and treat it as if the scene were real. Students are taken to the hospital, mortuary and jail. The students in the program then go on a field trip which includes a Mock Trial at the court house for the Drunk Driver. At the overnight retreat students will participate in activities related to the day’s event. On day 2, we will have an assembly with a guest speaker that has been affected by a drunk driving accident in their life and the students read good-bye letters to their family and friends. This program is a very emotional 2 day journey for students, families and the community. But one we must continue to provide for our students.
Funding for this program comes partially from a grant from the CHP. We need your help to raise the rest. The program costs approximately $20,000 to present to the students. So, we have created a donation page just for “Every 15 Minutes” on GoFundMe.com. There is a video for you to view of the program so you can see what it entails. All donation are tax deductible. If you would prefer to write a check, please make it payable to RHSPTSA and put on the bottom of the check for “E15M”.
