Pennies for Penny
Penny is my 12 year old chocolate lab whom I have had since the day she was born. All her life she's had breathing problems and it's never really given her too much trouble, but over the past few days it's gotten progressively worse to where she couldn't breathe at all.
Today I took her to the vet and she went into another fit, which resulted in her having to be given oxygen, us driving to the specialist, and her being put on the list for surgery today. She's currently in an oxygen chamber and relatively stable, but the surgery is the only way to make sure that she will continue to be able to breathe on her own.
Penny is worth every cent, and the surgery has already been given the go-ahead and we were put on a payment plan, but the cost is over $3,500+.
Any and all donations will be greatly appreciated and all of the money raised will go directly to the cost of her surgery. Thank you all for anything you can offer, even if it's just a repost or a retweet.
**If you want to know more:
What Penny has is called laryngeal paralysis. You can Google it and find tons of websites on it, but basically the flaps that open and close in her airway to let her breathe and keep food and water from going down the wrong tube don't work anymore and are stuck closed, which keeps her from getting any oxygen.
In the surgery they go in and permanently tack up one of the flaps so that it won't prohibit her from breathing anymore, and hopefully she will make a full recovery and not have any more difficulties.
