Henninger Goes to Washington D.C.

Henninger Seniors are trying to fundraise the monies needed to take a trip to Washington D.C. The purpose of this field trip is to help promote citizenship/civics and the history of the United States through real world exposure. Students will visit many famous monuments, museums, and Capitol Hill.

The trip is highly competitive and affords students who meet the criteria a reward for four years of hard work. In order to qualify for the trip they must be on track for graduation.  They need all Regents exams passed, have no disciplinary referrals, have an 80% attendance rate, and have sufficient credits for graduation. Students also need to be an active participant in fundraising as well.

This trip is rigorous and is tied to Common Core standards, with assignments that fully align with the curriculum. Students will work on activities daily that include reflective pieces, writing components, and will culminate in a final presentation focused on their personal experiences and specific topics within Economics and Goverment. We want to expose deserving students to history in action, and reward them for their success in school.

Due to changes in federal legislation students are unable to sell many of the traditional things in school to raise money. This includes candy, baked goods, and other food items. This legislation while well intended is crippling our ablity to raise the necessary funds this year. We really need help getting to our goal. Please condsider donating to our trip.

There are many positive things going on within the Syracuse City School District, and it's time to shed some positive light on students and their accomplishments.
