Jo's Meningitis Recovery Fund
Donation protected
In March 2014, Jo Arnold, a dedicated, popular, young teacher at our local primary school started to feel unwell. Within 48 hours her condition had deteriorated rapidly and she was diagnosed with a form of bacterial Meningitis. With only a 20% chance of survival and after spending a month in a coma, she managed to pull through but then had a long battle to get fit enough to be discharged home. She spent months in hospital away from her young daughters and her husband whilst she had to learn to sit up, talk and walk again. Although she had survived she had suffered permanent and life changing disabilities, losing all her fingers and toes to septicaemia. Now, almost a year later, Jo is coming to terms with what has happened but without the use of her hands, is unable to return to the job that she loves and regain some normality and independence. Jo needs to raise funds to help her pay for equipment to adapt her home and car, cosmetic prostheses and in the long term to raise some money for functioning prostheses.
