Baby Ellie's Cleft Lip Surgery

Donation protected
Raylin Elora "Ellie" was diagnosed with a cleft lip at her 20 week ultrasound. She was born with a unilateral cleft lip and palate, which prevents her from feeding without a special bottle and leaves her susceptible to ear, nose and throat problems, respiratory problems, and speech problems (once she begins to learn how to speak). The cause of cleft is still unknown, but affects about 1 in 600 babies and occurs in the fetus around 8 weeks gestational age. Her condition will require her to have a surgery to close her lip--probably in November-- as well as a surgery to close her palate (roof of the mouth) when she's 10 months old.
In addition to those, she will have surgeon's visits, orthodontic visits, speech therapy, etc. As her mom and dad, we are trying to get her health insurance coverage under one of us, but we are being denied because she has what they're calling a "pre-existing condition". For now we are paying for all of her medical costs ourselves. We cannot qualify for AHCCS because her dad's income is just over the maximum qualifying amount, even though we are not married. We have looked at trying to get her surgeries through the Shriners Hospitals, but the closest one is in Los Angeles. A cleft lip and/ or palate surgery generally costs about $5000.
We simply want to be able to get our baby girl the care she needs without being swamped with outrageous medical bills. Our goal is $1000 but anything at all would be a great help and a blessing. Thanks for taking the time to read. We really appreciate it!
