To those who are closest to me (Ginny) it is no secret that I love cooking and baking. Sharing the things that I make with others is one of my absolute favorite things to do in the whole world. This passion I have for cooking and having 2 best friends (Debbie & Nikki) who share my dream of bringing home-cooked meals to those in need are how Food With Love was born.
In 2014 a good friend of ours found herself and her family in need of home-cooked meals while they dealt with a terminally ill child. As a mother of 5 I could only imagine how hard things would be for them. They were in and out of hospitals and appointments constantly, both parents were still working full time jobs while trying their best to keep a routine and a feeling of "as normal a family life as possible" for their family throughout it all. We did not have a lot of extra money around to feed them AND our own families, but we were not going to let that stop us from doing whatever we could for them. We decided to use our cooking skills to make a difference. Now we host monthly cooking sessions where we, along with our volunteers, cook a weeks worth of dinners, in addition to a breakfast option, side dishes and a treat. We also invite a teen volunteer to each session to help them get their required community service hours for high school credit. By having these ready-made meals on hand, our current family in need can just pop a meal right into the oven on those crazy busy nights so that they can focus on what is most important...their family. No prep, no fuss and its all home-made, from the heart.
And this is why we are here, asking you all for any donation(s) you feel appropriate. We promise you that every cent raised will be spent buying groceries to prepare wonderful home-cooked meals for a very special family in need. We will cook monthly for our current "adopted" family until they no longer need our help. Then, we will find another family in need and continue to cook for them and so on. We appreciate your time and support. Thank you so very much for helping us make a difference, one family at a time.
