Meeting My Birth Family

UPDATE!!! I have located my family!!! Using the one thing no one could take from me- my DNA! (and lots and lots of tedious work within the last 2 years) I thought for sure this would take a lot longer, so I am SO happy and relieved!! I am now planning to meet them as soon as I can! With them being down South, it will cost quite a bit to get down there, so I have decided to change this into a fund to go MEET my birth family!! Flying would be way too much money with all of us (and I really want my family to be there, especially since my husband will be taking these once-in-a-lifetime photos), so driving would be the best option. Since we only have one vehicle that will fit us all and it's very old and unreliable, we will need to rent and that will cost more than we would like. (plus we are planning on buying another vehicle later this year because it is completely necessary and that will take any extra money we will have this year) I worry that we won't be able to afford the trip, at least for a long while, so this is why I am keeping up this page! I still feel very weird posting this (but you know, desperation makes you do what you normally wouldn't!) and I certainly do NOT EXPECT ANYTHING AT ALL, but if you feel compelled to help, no matter how small, I would be forever grateful!! THANK YOU to all who has donated or will donate!!! Every little bit helps.

I see so many of these for people wanting to adopt a baby, but mine is the other side of that. I am an adoptee and I am on a quest to find my birth family! I have tried anything and everything to find my biological family. I have tried every single route imaginable and there isn't any avenue I have not explored. I am here because I would like to hire a private investigator, but they are quite pricey. One quoted me $2,500 and one quoted $3900 (but I believe this PI already knows who I am looking for based on a recent conversation we had). Even though they only charge if they find who I am looking for,  with a fairly large family of my own, I couldn't afford to do this. I have wanted to do this for a long time now, but could not make it happen on my own. I feel like it's unfair to have to pay thousands of dollars to find my own kin, but I'm not left with much choice as an adoptee- especially in NY. NY is one of the hardest states to search in :(

Doing this fundraiser is very uncharacteristic of me, but after I received a few suggestions about doing one and knowing that I have exhausted all other options at this point, I decided to go for it as my last resort. I do not expect anything at all, but I just had to give it a try! Thank you so much to anyone and everyone who donates, no matter how small! It means more than you will ever know!!!
