About me:
Hello, My name is Devanshi Padsala. I am a senior at Liberty High School in Frisco, Texas, where I am a member of the Independent Study and Mentorship program. I was drawn to the field of Computer Science because of my interest in logic and mathematics. My goal this year is to enhance my understanding about Computers and explore the field in more depth.
Outside of ISM, I am a TED talk Translator in two languages, Director of Technology of Root to Fruit organization, which helps small children develop their educational and artistic skills. I am also a proud member and volunteer of VIP team (Volunteer in Plano), a student member of Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) and blood donor ambassador of Red Cross.
About my project:
Moving from India, I got so many opportunities in the United States of America to explore the field I was most interested in. It was incredible that I was able to learn animation, internetworking, and coding. I also got an opportunity to be part of Independent Study and Mentorship (ISM) in Frisco ISD. This course includes intense research, original idea generation, original product design, and written analysis of research. In addition, ISM teacher also works with the students on professionalism, time management, resume writing, and goal setting to help prepare students for future.
Developing countries do not even give choices of classes to students. After 10th standard/grade, students are supposed to select their major and their field of study. Without any prior knowledge or introduction, how can you tell this is what you wanted to do for rest of the life? This question is still bothering me. I feel bad for those who selected a major under the influence of others and did not like it.
Through my Final Product, I want to try to solve 0.01% of this problem. My product will introduce Computer Science to the students in India. I will introduce them with a Scratch software for coding. With Scratch, young people can program their own interactive stories, games, and animations. It is designed for ages 8-16 but is used by people of all ages. In today’s society, the ability to code is an important part of literacy. Scratch helps students learn important strategies for solving problems, designing projects, and communicating ideas.
Through this workshop, I want to inspire the young generation to generate curiosity for Computer Science. My website will include interactive games, quizzes, and a basic introduction of the topic I have selected of that day. Through these games and quizzes, I will collect data from students to see how are they progressing.
Through the money I will get, I'll provide computers and the internet to the school. This will change many lives and will also allow students to learn new things.

ISM શિવાય હું TED talk Show માં બે ભાષાની Translator છું અને Root to Fruit સંસ્થાની Technology ની Director છું, જે સંસ્થા નાના બાળકો તેમના શૈક્ષણિક અને કલાત્મક કુશળતા વિકાસ કરવામાં મદદ કરે છે. હું VIP team (Volunteer in Plano) ની ઉત્સાહીત સભ્ય અને સ્વયંસેવક પણ છું. Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) ની વિદ્યાર્થી સભ્ય અને Red Cross સંસ્થાની રક્તદાતા વિદ્યાર્થી છું.
ઇન્ડીયાથી આવી ત્યારે ત્યારે મને અમેરીકામાં જે ક્ષેત્રમાં રસ હતો તેમાં ઘણી તકો મળી. મને એનીમેશન, ઈન્ટરનેટ વર્કીંગ, અને કોડીંગ શીખવા મળ્યું તે અકલ્પનીય હતું. અહીં મને આઇ.એસ.એમ. માં ભાગ લેવાની તક મળી. આ કોર્ષ તીવ્ર સંશોધન, મુળ વિચાર રચના, મુળ ઉત્પાદન ડિઝાઇન અને સંશોધનનું વિશ્લેષણ કરતા શીખવે છે. સાથે સાથે આઇ.એસ.એમ. ટીચર વિદ્યાર્થીં પાસે ભવિષ્ય માટે વ્યવસાયીકરણ, સમય વ્યવસ્થાપન, સાર લેખન અને ધ્યેય નક્કી કરવાની તૈયારી શીખવાડે છે.
વિક્સિત દેશોએ પણ વિદ્યાર્થીઓ માટે વર્ગોની પસંદગી આપી નથી. ધોરણ ૧૦ પછી વિદ્યાર્થીઓને તેના ક્ષેત્રની પસંદગી કરવી પડે છે. કોઇપણ પૂર્વજ્ઞાન અને રજૂઆત વિના તમે કેવી રીતે કહી શકો કે તમારે બાકીનું જીવન એક જ ક્ષેત્રમાં વિતાવવાનું છે.આ પ્રશ્ન મને પજવે છે.મને એ લોકો પ્રત્યે સંવેદના છે જે પોતાને ન ગમતા ક્ષેત્રની પસંદગી બીજાના પ્રભાવમાં કરેલી છે.
મારી આ અંતિમ પ્રોડક્ટ દ્વારા, હું આ સમસ્યાને 0.01% ઉકેલવા માટે પ્રયાસ કરવા માંગુ છું. મારી પ્રોડક્ટ ભારતમાં વિદ્યાર્થીંઓને કોમ્પ્યુટર સાયન્સની જાણકારી આપશે. હું તેમને કોડીંગ માટે ઉપયોગી થતો સ્ક્રેચ સોફ્ટવેર શીખવીસ. યુવાનો પોતે અરસ પરસ પોતાની સ્ટોરીઓ, રમતો અને એનીમેશન પ્રોગ્રામ આ સ્ક્રેચ સોફ્ટવેરથી કરી શકે છે. સ્ક્રેચ સોફ્ટવેર ૮ થી ૧૬ વર્ષના વિદ્યાર્થીંઓ માટે બનાવેલ છે પણ તેને બધા ઉમરનાં લોકો વાપરી શકે છે. આજના સમાજમાં કોડ ક્ષમના એ સાક્ષરતા માટે મહત્વપૂર્ણ ભાગ ભજવે છે. સ્ક્રેચ સોફ્ટવેર વિદ્યાર્થીંઓને સમસ્યાનો ઉકેલ, પ્રોજેક્ટ ડીઝાઇન અને વાતચીત માટે ઉપયોગી છે.
આ વર્કશોપ દ્વારા હુ યુવાન પેઢીને કોમ્પ્યુટર સાયન્સ માટે જીજ્ઞાશા નિર્માણ કરવા માટે પ્રેરણા આપવા માંગુ છું. મારી વેબસાઇટ અરસ - પરસ રમતો, પ્રશ્નોતરી અને વિષયનો મુળભૂત પરિચય આપશે અને તેના દ્વારા તેમની પ્રગતિ થશે.
