FairFight - Zimbabwe expedition

Donation protected
In January 2016 I'm going to be spending 3 weeks in Zimbabwe helping the FairFight charity  in their work empowering girls and  women from challenging backgrounds.  We do this through helping them discover the mental, social & physical benefits of Martial Arts training.
I've spent all my adult life benefiting from the teaching and guidance of those around me, many of whom selflessy gave up their time and energy at their own expense to help spread the social and personal benefits training in traditional martial arts empowers.  This is my chance to pass some of that good will on and I'm hoping you'll help me to do so.

I'm hoping to raise £1,000 to purchase equipment and donate to worthy causes whilst i'm over there.  I'm also going to be taking sports clothing and equipment over with me that I can leave there so if you have old pads or gi's that no longer fit or are gathering dust, get in touch!

My expenses for this trip have been completely funded by my company so every penny I collect will be used out in Zimbabwe to help this cause.  The full details are still being worked out but this will likely include:

T-shirts and shorts for children to wear whilst they train with us and as clothing after we're gone.

Training equipment such as pads, focus mitts and gum shields so they're able to train safely.

First aid equipment which can be used by clubs or communities as they need.

Founded in early 2014 under the auspices of the Erasmus University College Student Association, it was the result of the coming together of the experience of former NGO worker and martial artist Ginie Servant and the local knowledge of Alex Whitcomb, a Zimbabwean national. The project is based on the idea that Martial Arts is not solely about self-defense or fighting: it teaches a person confidence and self-respect. It offers a powerful form of physical and mental development for all – building stronger, fitter, healthier bodies and more confident, daring minds. The practice of Martial Arts blends the slow build-up of strength, increased control over one’s motor systems, the development of a sense of honor and fair-play and in many cases, the construction of a stronger, sharper, more alert identity.
