Hello I'm Laura! I'm an illustrator from Liverpool, UK.

I've been a freelance illustrator since 2011.

It's been my dream to work in the animation industry for most of my life.

Jobs in this industry are incredibly hard to come by, especially in the North West of England. From what I can find, there are no TV animation studios in this part of the world.

My long term goal is to bring the animation industry to Liverpool and the North West, so my first step is to make an animated film.

Here is some of what I've made so far:

I've decided to create my own path, and I've green lit my own animated short, 'Weird Willow' - a poem about embracing who you are.

I'm making absolutely everything myself. The story, character designs, puppets, backgrounds, storyboards, voice overs, animations etc etc. The only thing I wont be making myself is the music.

I'm hoping making this film will open doors for me - Once its completed I'll submit it to film festivals, post it online and try to launch my own brand and animation studio.

I've had a passion and love for art my entire life, and making 'Weird Willow' as a 2D felt stop motion film is incredibly important to me.

I wrote Weird Willow in 2014, and I've wanted to do something more with the story for a long time, so why not make a film.

‘Weird Willow’ is being funded by myself and my family, if you wanted to help contribute to funding the project, your kindness would be much appreciated. I don't have investors, I'm a regular person trying to make a film with a small amount of money.

Any donations would help pay towards felt, sewing equipment, microphones, animation software, lighting, submission costs etc etc.

**Every single donator will receive a special mention at the end of the film - if you don't want this just let me know**

The film will be around 5-10 minutes long, and is currently being created on evenings and weekends. This takes up all of my free time currently, and I'm creating it within the spare time I have around my 9-5 job.

The final verse reads:

'Love yourself for who you are

throughout the storms and mist

don't be swayed by others views

because normal doesn't exist

be who you are, don't be afraid

you're rare, unique and free

if people don't love you for who you are

just say 'too bad, I can only be me.'

Its a poem about embracing being you're genuine self. Will gladly share my storyboard and any work in progress images / videos to any donators if they wanted to see it!
