Celebrate Brianna's birthday with us and wear something pink.
On Saturday 7th November, it will be Brianna's birthday, and I'd love for as many people as possible to join me in celebrating her life by wearing something pink.
This year, we're celebrating over two days, Friday 6th and Saturday 7th November, so that everyone can get involved!
Brianna was just 16 years old when she was murdered in February 2023. This year would have been her 20th birthday.
But I don't want Brianna to be remembered for how she died. I want people to remember the beautiful, bold person she was.
Brianna absolutely loved anything pink. She loved playing Minecraft and would spend hours building the most amazing villages. She loved being cosy in her bedroom, snuggled up with the dogs.
One of the things Brianna loved most was her birthday. She never asked for much. She was just happy that there was a day especially for her.
And I want to continue making that day special for her for as long as I'm here.
Pink was Brianna's favourite colour, and since losing her, it has become even more special to me. When the cherry blossom bloomed so beautifully and the skies turned pink after she died, I took comfort in feeling that she was still with me.
It would mean so much to see pink everywhere over Brianna's birthday weekend!
Whether you're at school, at work, at home or out with friends, please wear something pink, take a photograph and share it on social media using #WearPinkForPeace, tagging @esther.ghey and @briannagheylegacyproject.
If you're a school, workplace or business taking part on Friday 6th November, please share your photographs with us that day! I'd love to start sharing them on Friday and continue throughout Brianna's birthday on Saturday, filling our social media with pink.
It would mean so much to see people coming together to remember Brianna and celebrate her life.
Please make sure you have permission from anyone pictured before sending photographs for us to share. We won't be able to share images where children's faces are visible.
Giving something back in Brianna's memory
After Brianna died, I made a promise to myself that I would do everything I could to keep her memory alive and try to make something positive come from something so devastating.
That's why I founded Brianna Ghey Legacy Project
We work to improve children's mental health and wellbeing, focusing on prevention and giving children and families the tools to live happier, healthier lives.
Our Flourishing Families programme brings primary school children and their parents or carers together to learn about six important areas of wellbeing: nutrition, exercise, sleep, nature, gratitude and community.
For Brianna's birthday, I'd love to give something back to children and families in her memory.
Our fundraising goal is £2,000, which will go towards providing free Flourishing Families workshops to primary schools, you will help us to support around 300 children and their families.
These workshops will be our birthday gift to schools in Brianna's memory.
If we raise more than our initial £2,000 target, the additional funds will go towards developing our Flourishing Families programme. This will allow us to work with professionals, carry out research and build on the programme to ensure it is as effective as possible in supporting children's mental health and wellbeing.
Please join us in celebrating Brianna's birthday and creating a lasting legacy
If you're able to make a donation, however big or small, I'd be incredibly grateful.
But please don't feel you have to donate to take part. Simply wearing something pink and sharing a photograph would mean so much.
The kindness and support I've received since losing Brianna have helped me more than I could ever express. I'm incredibly grateful to everyone who continues to remember her and support the work we're doing in her memory.
Thank you for helping me keep Brianna's memory alive.
Let's fill 6th and 7th November with Pink for Peace, for Brianna.
With love,
Esther x
